Hey! The Michael Gelinas they mention in the London Free Press article is actually me... lol... typo! lfpress.ca National Canoe Day article.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to listen at the International Food Festival. It was a great time playing outside in the sun! National Canoe Day celebrations also went over very well. Here are some details about the London, ON National Canoe Day events.

June 25, 2009

National Canoe Day is tomorrow, June 26th. It is being celebrated all over the country. Check out the official website. Adrian and I decided to write a song for National Canoe Day so the demo is done and it's available to hear...actually it should be playing right now... If you'd like to download the National Canoe Day MP3 feel free to. I'm playing at 12PM (noon) on June 26th at The Forks of the Thames in London, ON. I'll be preforming two songs before we wave off the paddlers.

Later on that day I'll be performing a set or two at the International Food Festival which is located at Victoria Park in London, ON. I'll be starting at 5PM and playing until 6PM or 7PM. I'm probably going to do a few more canoe songs and then a solo tribute to Elton John. Check it out if you're in the park and if you get any good pics, or video, send me the link and I may be able to use it on my website! Thanks and talk to you soon!

Wow, the last month has passed by so quickly! There has been lots going on. I'm rehearsing with Brian Dale's band for a Canada Day gig in Grand Bend on the beach celebrating the completion of his first album. I'm jamming along to three songs including Miss Grand Bend, The Truck Song, and Ferris Wheel. If your in The Bend that day be sure to stop by the beach and check out the show. Lance bedard is one of the other acts playing that day and I'll be playing the keys when he preforms as well.

Lately I have been working on an older tune called Bars Are Made To Break. It's one of my first songs I'm working on getting recorded at home with Sonar 8PE which I purchased earlier this year. I am happy with how it sounds so far.

I've added strings, bass, harmonies, epiano, grand piano, and Vinnie Vincenzo played the drums for me. If you'd like to hear how it's coming along send me an email and I'll send you a MP3 demo. Have a good one!

I just got home from Emac where Matt Grady and Rob Nation were working the final tweaks in the mix of Dawn, Canada. It was very nice to be able to sit down surrounded by the great top of the line monitors they have and hear the final mix. Within a few minutes it will be posted for you to hear. Soon I'll add the link to download the MP3 FREE

I would like to give an enormous special thanks to the Promised Land Project who has made the recording of Dawn, Canada possible.! Visit the Promised Land Project and give them thanks!

A string quartet recorded the arrangement written by Jeff Christmas for Dawn, Canada. We had some of London's best performing live at Emac Studio. The strings have added just the right touch to the song. I can't wait for you to hear it!. Check back soon.

It was nice and smooth going recording the vocals for Dawn, Canada today at Emac Studios in London, ON. I am amazed at what a high quality and proper mic can do! The song is sounding sweet :)

April 19, 2009

Today I played on two songs at Savage Studio in London, ON. The songs were titled Lazy River and Count On Me. I look forward to hearing the mix when Bill is finished with the rest of his tracking.

Peter and I returned to Emac for our second session and it was excellent! We had a great time getting the Grand Piano tracks down for Kuhleborn and Dawn, Canada. The bass line for Kuhleborn has been nailed down as well.

I have decided that it is time for me to create a myspace page for the music. The new myspace page will evolve along with this official website. Here is the link: http://myspace.com/marcelg7.

The first recording session at Emac went well. We focused on getting the drums down but also managed to get the bass line down for Dawn, Canada. Brad Mullett (drums) and Peter Miller (bass) have done a great job! I am up this week when we return to Emac to get the Piano tracks down.

Yesterday I joined Lance Bedard as he put on a great CD release party at Gables in Grand Bend. The show was amazing, what a great crowd! I have heard that there was over $1000 raised for Big Brothers & Sisters charity. Great work to everyone who gave a little bit!!

Selected samples from Kuhleborn.

This div will be replaced

Kuhleborn did not exist until after a pint at a local pub in London. Adrian was filling me in on the news of the Philip Aziz Foundation's trip around the Thames river, commemorating the original journey by William Lees Judson & Paul Peel. He also told me about the Story Book Tree that was being carved at Rona which was to show images of memories of the trip and it's history.

Something clicked with me and I suggested we go and write the song to go along with the whole thing. We finished our pint and went to my piano and got down to business.

Once the first demo was recorded it was played for Barry Callow and Philip Aziz and they loved it. From there we decided to move forward and write an entire album of River Songs for the trip.

Everything that we have available to hear today are demos and they are constantly being updated and worked on in preparation for the recording session with a full band and full backing vocals, choir and string section.

If you want to buy any of the songs you hear we would really appreciate the support. Just send me an e-mail and I'll give you more info. Songs go for 99¢ through PayPal.

Kuhleborn - River Songs

This is an album of River Songs related to the Philip Aziz Foundation of Arts Story Book Tree that is being carved out of a 23' trunk. The carving tells the story of two canoe trips down the Thames river to Lake St. Clair. The Promised Land Project sponsored hit Dawn, Canada is one of the two tracks we have begun recording at Emac Studios. Kuhleborn recording sessions are scheduled to begin in the second week of april.

Never Lose Your Stars - Love Songs

An EP including six love songs recorded as a solo project with piano & vocals only.

Cloud Of Anvil Chorus - Alternative Rock

Cloud of Anvil Chorus brings back the full band sound to our songs. We have been able to work with some of London, Ontario's most amazing musicians. This eleven song project is currently set aside while I save up to do the recording sessions.

Onset - Torrington / Gelinas Classics

Featuring Vinnie Vincenzo on drums. We are working on recording songs at my home studio using Sonar 8 Producer Edition. This project is the first time I've tried using MIDI drums on a recording, so far - so good. This project will feature songs from Dawning Eternity, Onset, Three of Clubs and Sphinx.
